The Best Gift For A Baseball Fan

Posted by Kurt Smith on Monday, November 30, 2015
If you're looking for the perfect Christmas or Hanukkah gift for the baseball fan in your life, Ballpark E-Guides is here to help.

Tickets always work for me, but if you want to give an extra special gift to the baseball nut, how about a detailed, fun to read insider's guide to their favorite ballpark, or a ballpark that they'd like to visit?

Below I've made this very easy for you. I've included links to holiday specials that teams are offering, links to search for tickets on SeatGeek, and most importantly, a link to purchase the information-packed Ballpark E-Guide to that ballpark!

So here's your opportunity to get the perfect gift for the baseball fan...going team by team...

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves now have Holiday Ticket Packs on sale; get two tickets for four marquee games including Opening Day and a Red Sox game. Significant savings off of the ticket price, and with this being the final season at Turner Field, they might be a fairly tough ticket. This would be worth it just for Opening Day.

Click here to search SeatGeek for Braves tickets.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles haven’t made any offers or put any multi-game packages on sale yet, but be sure to save these handy links.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have some 20-game plans available now; you can get tickets in the Left Field Pavilion Reserved seats for about $70 a game if you buy before December 31. These aren’t the best seats in Fenway, but it’s not a bad price especially with some Yankees games included. You could sell those and make some of your money back. If you have enough Red Sox fans in your life it’s a decent gift idea.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have put 6- and 12-game ticket packs on sale; you can choose the Friday or Sunday pack or other packs. The Friday and Sunday packs don’t include games against high-value opponents like the White Sox or Cardinals; the Rival 6-Pack includes the Cardinals, White Sox and Brewers. 12-Packs include three premium games.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox have their version of a Holiday Pack; four ticket vouchers that can be used at any of 74 games. (My guess is that the excluded games would be Opening Day, and games against the Cubs or Yankees and maybe the Royals.) Definitely go for the lower level pack; the upper level pack might be cheaper, but it isn’t worth it for the not-so-great seats and the upper level rules. The holiday pack includes a White Sox ornament! If you want to get your money’s worth, choose some weekend games in July or August.

The White Sox also have 7- and 14-game plans that both include Opening Day or a Cubs game.

Cleveland Indians

The Tribe is offering “Tribe Six Packs”; you can choose the Friday pack that includes the impressive fireworks nights (they are centered on a musical theme, like Elvis or one-hit wonders); Saturday packs that include promotional items; or Sundays which are very popular with the kids, with promotions like having them run the bases after the game.

Best of all, these include a game against the World Champion Royals, and a game against the ever-popular (?) Yankees. If you’re looking for gifts for Indians fans, this is a pretty good deal. And Progressive Field keeps getting better, especially the food!

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have both a six-game plan and a holiday four-pack; the pick six plan allows you to choose from all the games except Opening Day, and the holiday pack includes four credits that can be used in any combination (again, except for Opening Day). The Reds include gifts with each package, and they include a link to the promotional schedule in the six-pack. Nice deals both, and not too much commitment required.

Detroit Tigers

Other than season ticket deposits, the Tigers haven’t put any deals up for the holidays. But you can save these handy links, of course.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have a very nice Holiday 4-Pack: tickets to four games and the buyer can choose from several plans like a bobblehead plan or the matinee plan, and nearly all of them include the popular Cubs games. You can also choose your four from a list of 38 games. For Loge Infield Box…which are good seats…tickets go for about $42 a game before fees.

New York Mets

The Mets have a pre-sale for Citi cardholders that unfortunately has just passed; sorry about that. But single game tickets should be on sale by the time you read this, so you can jump on the hot games before the third party market price goes up.

New York Yankees

The Yankees right now have a holiday ticket sale for MasterCard holders; these include the incredibly-priced $5 games…jump on that, because $5 Yankees tickets aren’t easy to come by. The tickets can even be in the Grandstand or Terrace Level. There are half-price games too. A great, inexpensive gift for the Yankees fan in your life.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies have three-game packs available; this is a cool way to offer tickets to a loved one and get a cool game for yourself like Opening Day at face price. Types of packs include Mother’s and Father’s Day packs, family packs or fireworks packs…and the fireworks nights are very popular in Philly.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Bucs right now have a Holiday 6-Pack for sale; you can choose two each from the premium, not so premium and low value contests. No Opening Day, unfortunately, but there are quite a few Free Shirt Friday games to choose from. The mid-value games include two contests against the newly mighty Cubs; those will be tough tickets.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays have something called a “Mobile Flex Pack”; tickets are loaded onto your smartphone and scanned at the gate. Not sure how you’d give that as a gift, but if you wanted to I’m sure the Rays would accommodate you. The packs include e-cash for concessions and souvenirs, and it’s an overall great deal for live baseball.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays have put Flex Packs on sale, and if they are as tough as they were in 2015, this might be the best deal you can score on tickets. There are packs in 10-, 20- and 40-game editions, and they include an opportunity to buy Opening Day tickets. Discounted seats even for premium games, and if you buy now you get a tidy $50 in concessions cash to spend.

Washington Nationals

The Nats have a nice simple Holiday three-pack; of the two plans to choose from, one includes a Cubs game and the other includes a matchup against the NL champion Mets. Both include Racing President ornaments.
